Exactly 150 years ago, on the 7th of June 1859, the Plan for Reform and Development of Barcelona was approved. This was the work of one of Barcelona’s most magnificent minds: Ildefons Cerdà.

An engineer for roads, channels and ports, Ildefons Cerdà was born on the 23rd of December 1815 in the Catalonian manor El Cerdà de Centelles. The fourth of six siblings, he found himself forced to rebel against the future reserved for him as a priest.
